An exciting opportunity has become available within The Hub Plus, Derbyshire for a Nursing Associate or Student Nursing Associate (within 2 months of completion of training) to work within a small dynamic team to raise the profile of the Nursing Associate (NA) role and support peers and trainees working in primary care in the county.

  • Job Title: Nursing Associate Ambassador.
  • Reports To: GPN Champion.
  • Accountable to: The Hub Plus, Derbyshire Training Hub Operational Board.
  • Hours: 7.5 hours weekly (to include at least half a day Monday or Tuesday)
  • Location: Hybrid – Base site RTC, RTC Business Park, London Road, Derby
  • Contract type: Fixed Term 12months with extension subject to funding, starting ASAP.
  • Pay: Pay will be commensurate with experience and competitive with your clinical hourly rate.

Job Summary: The NA Ambassador role will directly impact the advancement of the NA workforce across Derby and Derbyshire. You will act as a career specific champion, promoting the role to potential trainees and Primary Care Networks whilst supporting those currently in post through networking and induction, integration and preceptorship programmes.

The work of our Ambassadors enhances understanding of new roles, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, a feeling of belonging across the primary care landscape and promotion of general practice careers.

We are looking for an organised, dynamic individual who will work alongside our existing, approachable team and build relationships across the Derbyshire health care system. This role is designed for someone who can respond to challenges, is self-motivated and is passionate about both supporting others and achieving quality patient care. The post holder will work alongside our GPN Educator and within the supportive The Hub Plus, Derbyshire team.

Candidates must be a current nurse associate working within primary care in Derbyshire. We particularly welcome candidates from under-represented groups.

Key Deliverables: This role is offered in line with a Nationally funded programme, which seeks to increase capacity for additional Student Nursing Associate (SNA) placement opportunities by increasing students in the Nursing Associate Programme. Key deliverables include:

  • Increase numbers of SNAs across the county 
  • Engage with PCNs to raise the profile of the NA role
  • Support integration of SNA and NA role into general practice
  • Support a preceptorship model for NA.

Key Responsibilities:
Working with The Hub Plus, Derbyshire team, the successful candidate will have a number of key responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Building relationships with PCNs and practices to promote the NA role within primary care, including encouraging the expansion of training capacity.
  • Building networks of NA / SNA across the county providing regular peer support / group supervision / education alongside the GPN Educator and in line with SNA / NA training needs.
  • Attending relevant employer and sector groups to raise the profile of the role.
  • Supporting the recruitment of internal and external candidates who want to apply for the nursing associate apprenticeship and nursing degree.
  • Engagement and collaboration with the HEI’s to ensure that the PCN’s administration for students is completed.
  • Support and promote career pathways for NAs.
  • A desire to make a difference to improving the care of our patients and the ability to work autonomously and within a team are essential.
