QI Clinical Lead (Peer Ambassador)

Job Purpose

This role will act as Derbyshire’s Peer Ambassador and QI Clinical Lead supporting general practice across Derbyshire to embed the principles of Modernising General Practice. You will share learning and best practice from both local and national teams. You will promote and provide leadership on quality improvement activity across Derbyshire General Practice.

You will actively support practice interventions using a coaching approach from a clinical peer perspective. You will have access to a national network and have access to NHS Peer Ambassador training.

Role Description

  • Job Title: Quality Improvement (QI) Clinical Lead
  • Hours: 2 sessions per week (8 hours).
  • Day: One full day or 2 half days
  • Pay: Circa £12,000 per session pending experience
  • Reports to:  Emilia Betteridge (Practice Support)
  • Location: Remote working with some travel to our office location at RTC Business Park, London Road, Derby and other locations for meetings
  • Travel: Some ravel to attend practices, meetings and training venues as required.
  • Contract: Individual Contractor, Third Party or Secondment until 31st March 2027

Role Purpose

The Quality Improvement (QI) Clinical Lead will:

  • Contribute to and learn from the national NHS Peer Ambassador network
  • Support general practice with QI initiatives and improvement planning
  • Engage in national policy and implement for Derbyshire
  • Showcase and share best practice across the county
  • Connect modernising general practice expertise across Derbyshire
  • Support practices in need with tailored interventions
  • Promote integrated neighbourhood working
  • Build leadership capacity within general practice
  • Deliver education sessions around QI

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be able to commit to working 2 sessions per week over 12 months
  • A current GP, Enhanced Practitioner, or Advanced Practitioner working either in a permanent role, locum or bank but predominantly Derbyshire based
  • GMC or other professional body registration
  • Committed to supporting general practice and system-wide improvement
  • Able to work collaboratively and lead QI initiatives
  • Not be subject to interim suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Evaluation via the Hub+ QI process including adhering to quarterly project reporting schedule
  • Committed to the principles of Inclusive Leadership.

Support and Development

The post will be supported by The Hub Plus team and connected to the national NHS Peer Ambassador training scheme. They will receive mentoring, access to learning resources, and opportunities to contribute to national and local transformation.
