Neighbourhood health, stronger partnerships and the future direction of primary care will be the focus of the 2026 Annual General Practice Conference next month.
Now fully booked, the event on Wednesday, 30 September will be hosted by Derby and Derbyshire Local Medical Committee (DDLMC), Derbyshire General Practice Provider Board (GPPB) and The Hub Plus.
The full agenda will be released to registered delegates soon, and attendees can expect an inspiring day filled with thought-provoking discussions, practical insights and valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues.
The event, held at the Derby Conference Centre, will enable colleagues working in general practice to:
Colleagues from the GPPB, DDLMC and The Hub Plus will lead a series of workshops and breakout sessions focused on ‘What are neighbourhoods and why do they matter?’ and ‘Looking ahead: New relationships and future ways of working’.
There will also be a panel discussion featuring key partners who will provide greater clarity on system direction and development – with an opportunity to ask questions.
During the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a series of dedicated breakout workshops.
Sessions will explore a range of topics, that will deliver practical insights, encourage shared learning, and showcase innovative ways of working across the health and care system.

Primary Care clinicians are often the first point of contact for patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, yet access to specialist-level education in this area can be limited.
This November, Hub Plus is supporting an opportunity for Primary Care professionals to learn directly from leading MSK and spinal specialists at Managing MSK in Primary Care: Learn, Connect, Apply, delivered in association with the British Scoliosis Society Conference. Our judging panel had the difficult task of reviewing an exceptional range of nominations and selecting a shortlist for each category.
We are currently in the process of designing a Derbyshire wide Care Coordinator Development Programme, with a potential start date of January 2027, to support all Care Coordinators through shared learning, professional development and networking opportunities.

The DWP Youth Jobs Grant Scheme offers organisations the opportunity to recruit and support a young person into employment, with the Government funding 100% of wage costs for up to 25 hours per week over a six-month period. As part of the wider Youth Guarantee programme, the scheme helps young people facing long-term unemployment gain valuable work experience while providing employers with recruitment and onboarding support. Eligible practices can also claim up to £250 towards onboarding costs.

Over the past year, the Voices in Practice (VIP) group brought together colleagues from across Derbyshire general practice, representing GPs, nurses, pharmacy, social prescribing, management and non-clinical roles. The aim was simple: create a space where frontline staff could share experiences, influence discussions and help shape future priorities.
What started as a staff voice forum quickly became a platform for meaningful influence.
Through open and honest discussions, members explored topics including: workforce wellbeing, prevention, digital transformation, information sharing and equality, diversity and inclusion. Their feedback helped inform conversations, initiatives and future developments across Derbyshire.
What VIP helped influence
Most importantly, members felt their voices were making a difference, with 100% of respondents confirming that recommendations and insights from meetings were acknowledged and acted upon.
While the meetings may have paused for the summer, the influence of their contributions continues through the programmes, initiatives and conversations they helped shape.
Derbyshire General Practice Long Service Awards
The picturesque grounds of Morley Hayes played host to the 4th cohort of the Derbyshire General Practice Awards on Thursday 25th June 2026. Thank you to all the recipients and their guests for making the afternoon so memorable.
After the welcoming speech by Hub Plus Business Director, Claire Leggett, each recipient received an ovation as they collected their years of service certificate and pin badge. Once everyone had been honoured, our recipients and their guests were treated to a delicious afternoon tea.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming Catherine Atkinson MP for Derby North, who met with two local Social Prescribers from Greater Derby PCN. It was a productive meeting, offering a great opportunity for networking and for Catherine to hear first-hand about the amazing work Social Prescribers are doing to support the local community.

Educator, Supervisor and Assessor Collaboration and Innovation Day - Wednesday 23rd September 2026
Please join JUCD for their next Educator, Supervisor and Assessor collaboration event. The day is planned to celebrate all supervisors and assessors, as well as explore the Educator Workforce Programme/Strategy the NETS survey results and it’s a great opportunity to network.
Digital tools play an increasing role in access to care, but differences in how they are understood and used can add pressure for practices, create confusion for patients, and contribute to variation in experience. This webinar series offers practical space to step back, look at familiar challenges from different angles, and explore tools and approaches that may help day to day work in general practice. Each session focuses on a specific area that commonly creates friction for both practice staff and patients, with an emphasis on clarity and confidence.

"We were delighted to welcome our third-year student nurses on tour for a placement experience across primary care. During their time with us, students gained valuable clinical exposure within GP surgeries and specialist services, including wound clinics, alongside dedicated training days at The Hub Plus.
As part of their placement, students also led ‘health check’ events at RTC Business Centre and Alstom, carrying out observations such as manual blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturations, weight, and blood glucose monitoring.
The experience provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop and practice their clinical skills, and all participants completed the placement with increased knowledge and confidence in primary care nursing - recognising it as a rewarding and viable career pathway for newly qualified nurses."
