CVD Prevention Plan Training – What to Expect and Why It Matters Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains one of the leading causes of premature death in the UK, with atrial fibrillation (AF), high blood pressure (BP), and raised cholesterol contributing significantly to heart attacks and strokes.
These conditions account for 25% of the life expectancy gap between the most and least affluent communities. The CVDPREVENT is a national primary care audit that automatically extracts routinely held GP data about the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
The CVDPREVENT audit highlights that many individuals with CVD risk factors are not receiving optimal treatment, and there are notable inequalities across different demographic groups. Urgent action is needed from healthcare professionals to address these gaps and improve outcomes. Participants attending the CVDPREVENT Train-the-Trainer session will gain practical skills to navigate and interpret CVD data for their Practice or PCN, use improvement tools and data packs to guide medicines optimisation, identify key areas for cardiovascular improvement, and confidently lead educational outreach sessions to support the creation of local CVD Prevention Action Plans.
