Aim:

To introduce the Derbyshire Primary Care Lower Limb Pathway, developed in line with the National Wound Care Strategy for primary care healthcare professionals. This pathway is designed to improve healing rates and patient outcomes, streamline care within limited appointment times, and eliminate the need for Doppler testing by identifying red flags early.

This session is suitable for:

For suitability - registered professionals only can initiate the red flag pathway, , but good for HCAs to attend
This session is suitable for:
• Practice Nurses
• Nursing Associates
• HCAs (carrying out wound care)
• GPs

Learning Outcomes:

After this session attendees will have a greater understanding of the following: 

​• The structure and benefits of the Derbyshire Primary Care Lower Limb Pathway
​• How to manage lower leg wounds effectively using the pathway
​• How to identify red flags without Doppler testing
​• Accurate measuring and product selection for wound care
​• Practical application of liners and bandages
​• The process for practice/PCN sign-off following training​

Level of Learning: 

​This session offers practical, evidence-based learning tailored to primary care professionals. It includes live demonstrations and hands-on practice to ensure attendees can confidently apply the pathway in their clinical settings.
