 Aim:

Bhakti Nagaraja will examine the well-documented disparities in mental health care for ethnic minority patients. This session looks at inequalities in diagnosis, access to talking therapies, and compulsory detention rates, and gives you practical approaches to deliver more equitable mental health care in your consultations. 

Bhakti Nagaraja is an MSc-qualified counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice, passionate about understanding the connections between culture, identity and mental health. Her work recognises the importance of each person’s unique story and the ways in which family, cultural expectations and a sense of belonging can shape our emotional wellbeing. Her dissertation explored the lived experiences of South Asian women, shedding light on the challenges of navigating identity, relationships and belonging across generations.
